In order to access our Ventrilo server, you must first download the client here.

Setting up Ventrilo

In under seven simple steps, you can have your Ventrilo client set up and defaulted to connect to our server. Here’s how:

1. Find the first option, titled “User Name”. Click the arrow (“->”) on the far right.
2. When the new window opens, click “New”, and enter your in-game username. Click  ”OK” at the bottom (Note: If you have set up an account with the same username, you will be prompted for your password when you connect).
3. Find the second option, titled “Server”. On the far right, click the arrow (“->”).
4. When the new window opens, click “New” again and title it “DarkTide”.
5. Under “Hostname or IP”, type in “vent.thedarktide.net”.
6. Under “port number”, type in “22238″. Click “OK” at the bottom.
7. Finally, on the right of the  window, the top option should be labeled “Connect”. Click this, and you’re ready to go!

If you want certain privileges such as your own channel, your in-game tag, or ensure that no one steals your username, you must first get an account on our Ventrilo server. Please see this post on how to do that.

How to get a vent channel

You may buy private channels for 25portals for both a in game and on vent channel. Villages, Towns, City’s also get vent channels and in game channels. I understand that some people like to use Teamspeak, mumble, skype or any other type of voice communication who knows maybe even xbox party chat . That being said, you will only be given a vent channel for your clan if you ask for one. Want a vent channel for your clan? Only the clan leader can request for a vent channel. Send me or Jellyfish a pm on the forums, catch us in irc, in game or even on vent. If you are sending a pm please have this information included.

How to normalize everyone’s voice in Ventrillo

1. Go to Setup
2. Enable Direct Sound
3. Select the SFX Button
4. Select Compressor and click Add.
5. Under Compressor Properties, use the following settings:
6. -Gain = Adjust for how loud you want people to be. (I use 15)
7. -Attack = 0.01
8. -Release = Around 500
9. -Threshold = Around -30
10. -Ratio = 100
11. -Pre delay = 4.0

That should make it so everyone is automatically adjusted to the same volume level, no matter if they’re screaming full on into the mic or talking like they’re 50 feet away from the mic.
