Week 2√5 of DarkTide

Ho, ho, ho; Merry Christmas!

It’s that time of the year, folks. What are your plans for the holidays? Does your family get together and force you to talk with your aunts and great-great-not-really-an-uncle?

Gifts

As our gift to you, DarkTide, there is no rent this week! Go spent your money on other people! Ya . . . right.

Stay vigilant! The Christmas advent calendar still has goodies every day of this month. You can find it near the DTC riverside plots.

Christmas Eve Tourney

Christmas Eve, Eve 1v1 PvP Tournament

Darktide will be holding a 1v1 PvP Tournament to determine it’s new Champion this Friday at 5pm EST.
Prizes this week will be the title of Champion and, [drumroll]… Portals! The first place winner will recieve 10 portals,
second place 5 portals, and third place 3 portals! Please register by Thursday night via the related forum post to guarantee yourself a spot.

The Tournament will be held in honor of the departure of Darktide’s own CommodoreWade.
We will miss you Mr. Wade!

Guide Revisions

Change in policy for future guides:

First 2 weeks is a “trial” period you get no pay and we see how you do: we will decide if we will let you go or not. During this time, you don’t get anything. If we keep you, then you get pay and a plot in DTC. Current guides are not affected by this policy.

Promotions!

DarkTide featured a cacophony of promotions in the staff corps.

Please welcome DarkTide’s newest Guides DarkTakua, DREVL, Nick392, Farfir, and Xolnir! We wish you the very best in your future role as a servant dealing with the nomads!

-dj0320

The Technology Department also has a promotion to celebrate: I am happy to announce eiika as DarkTide’s newest Junior Developer! eiika’s work is already present in a few modifications to the ever-popular PetitionPlugin. We are looking forward to see more work from you.

New User Guides Coming

dj0320 has been writing a plethora of new User Guides that will soon grace the User Guides section of this website. No longer will you be confused about how to get a WorldForger’s Wrath or when your purchased fire gets placed!

Bukkit

Now to the techy bad news. Now that we have the “Recommended Build” from Bukkit, players have been wondering out loud about why we don’t have potions and enchantments yet. Well, the answer lies with Bukkit. Though DarkTide is running the recommended build for Minecraft 1.0.1, this Bukkit build is not the final build for 1.0.1. Yes, even with all that time, they did not release a build that is fully compatible with Minecraft 1.0.

What is it lacking? You guessed it: Potions and enchantment support. While players could make potions on this build, we have no way of monitoring, changing, are blocking certain aspects of these new additions to Minecraft. This would procure far too many problems for us to open these features now. When Bukkit releases Recommended Build 2 for Minecraft 1.0.1, we will be able to proceed. Thank you for your patience.

Picture Dump

This week’s picture dump is a collection of pictures taken of the impressive bread farm on bmavridis’s Land Owner that produces 3 stacks of bread in one harvest. Next week we hope to get an interview will bmavridis.

No more bread shortages in Darktide. We built a bread farm that can produce 3 stacks of bread in a single harvest.

If you have an impressive creation that you would like featured, please send me a PM on the forums.

Thanks for another great week, DarkTide, hope you have a great Christmas!

    1. Merry Christmas to the believers and Happy Holidays to the Non-believers.The farm does not look most effective, but it does look impressive in form. It would be interesting to see its context of design.
